The construction style is a traditional saddle shoulder. It is worked at a looser gauge on larger needles with two strands of suri held double to create a light, airy, wearable fabric. The design includes central braided cables (3 cables for sizes 1-6, 5 cables for sizes 7-11), in a sea of simple seed stitch to add textural, visual interest.

The pattern begins by working the two saddles. Then stitches are picked up for the back, which is worked flat to the underarm. Stitches are picked up for the front left and front right, which are worked separately and flat, then joined together and worked flat to the underarm. The pattern is then joined in the round and worked to desired length. Stitches are picked up for sleeves and worked to desired length (elbow or long). Finally stitches are picked up around the neckline and the collar is finished.

The pattern includes instructions for both an elbow length or long sleeve, as well as a single or double folded collar.

Both the short sleeve and long sleeve samples are knit in a size 3 for a 37” bust with 3” of positive ease. The short sleeve sample uses Explorer Knits Suri Alpaca Lace in the colors ‘Escapism’ and ‘Metamorphosis’. The long sleeve version uses the Explorer Knits colorway “I’d like to try- to help, to change things.”

This sweater is designed to be worn with 0-6” of positive ease. It is graded with 4” of positive ease and you may size up or down to get your desired fit.

As a new designer, I could not find testers for sizes 7-11. If you would like to knit one of these sizes, please reach out to me and I will gift you the pattern in exchange for feedback.
