Crochet is a creative space where focus and relaxation come together. Overlay mosaic crochet adds visual depth through simple stitches, allowing graphic designs to unfold one row at a time.

This pattern is inspired by flowing underwater shapes and stylised fish motifs, brought to life through strong contrast and clean, rhythmic lines. The repeating movement and balanced composition evoke a calm, almost meditative feeling, much like watching water gently move.

The design is worked using one color per row, creating a clear and striking pattern while maintaining an enjoyable and steady crochet rhythm.

About the Design
This pattern is worked in overlay mosaic crochet using two contrasting colors referred to as Light Color and Dark Color, allowing you to personalize your palette while maintaining clear visual definition.

NOTE!!! This pattern is for one side of the pillow. If you want to make it two sided just make two of them.

• Stitch Count: 57 stitches wide × 62 rows tall (including starting chain and border stitches)
• Finished Size: approx. 37 x 35 cm (15 x 14 inch) when using a 5mm/0.20” hook. Of course, you can use a smaller or bigger hook size.
• Skill Level: Beginner
• Pattern Type: Small/Medium project, suitable as a pillowcase

Materials
• Yarn Weight: Suitable for 5 mm hook (Worsted recommended). But can create it in any size
• Additional Supplies: tapestry needle, scissors
Exact yardage will depend on yarn brand and personal tension. But the testers use aprox 275mtr (300yrd) per color for 2 sides of the pillowcase.

Gauge
Gauge will affect final size and yarn usage.
For this pattern, the estimated gauge is: 16 stitches × 18 rows = 10 cm (4”). Worked in single crochet (back loop only). Note: Your finished size may vary slightly depending on yarn, hook size, and personal tension.

Overlay mosaic crochet uses only these basic stitches. All single crochets are worked in the back loop only; all double crochets are overlay stitches worked into the front loop of the stitch two rows below in the same color.

How to Start
We begin with a foundation chain of 58 chains using the light Color. (55 pattern stitches + 2 border stitches + 1 turning chain), start the return row in the 2nd stitch. Work one row of single crochet back to the beginning before starting row 1 of the mosaic pattern.

At the end of the pattern at row 62 you have one side of the pillowcase. You should make 2 of them to complete the pattern.
