There is a group for knitting this shawl here on Ravelry - SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES!

In recent days two lovely Ravelers have brought to my attention points within this pattern which required improvement and clarification (particularly vis-a-vis legend omissions and clearer edging instructions). Enormous thanks go out to Maureen McClelland and Laura Need who have been both helpful and gracious in their comments. A Second Edition of the pattern with these clarifications is now available.

An unbelievably gorgeous pattern! This is a unique and exciting knitting experience, an excellent choice for an intermediate-advanced lace knitter! When Karen and I brainstormed about this design, we liked the dramatic shape of the hexagon, and Karen’s design has far exceeded my lofty hopes for this idea:) The pattern is composed of four charts and is a hexagonal shape with an elegant lace patterned center section… the flaming lace motif descends to a dramatic arched and pointed lace border. This is a fantastic shawl to wear, it is very large and drapes about the body in a beautiful, exciting manner! Truly heirloom quality, you will be stunning in this piece-- a dark and dramatic shape!

PLEASE NOTE That a REVISED (CORRECTED) PDF OF THIS PATTERN IS AVAILABLE AS OF JULY 26, 2009… corrections pertain to Rows 3-26, and pertain to the yo increases on each triangle. MEA CULPA (Karen)….please contact NICOLE FELLER-JOHNSON at Etsy’s “NO TWO SNOWFLAKES” ….

Errata “Row 8 of Chart A” was accidentally inserted twice in a row. If you have purchased this pattern on or before May 8, 2009, and would like to be sent the updated version of the pattern, please drop Nicole an email at NoTwoSnowflakes@aol.com. Our apologies!

There is a second Errata in that an additional row should be inserted at Row 28. Row 28 is a WRONG-SIDE ROW and Row 1 of the Chart should not begin until ROW 29! If you have purchased this pattern on or before May 19, 2009, and would like to be sent the updated version of the pattern, please drop Nicole an email at NoTwoSnowflakes@aol.com.

Additional Errata:
CHART B: On rows 4 and 12, “K2tog” should read “P2tog.” Also, on edging chart, “V” means “slip this stitch.”

Thanks to a lovely Raveler, some edging notes: DON’T BREAK YARN; cast on for edging. Knit a foundation row, knitting (or purling as you wish) the last edging stitch together with the first “live” stitch. Turn work, begin Row 1 of Edging.

Page 9: …. ending on row 4 of Chart B….

CHART B in the 2nd edition omits stitches 19 and 20 in all 16 rows. These stitches are all knit plain and/or knit, no stitch. A correct chart is now available in the pattern.
