Son of Dog Days III combines simple wrap-and-turn short rows with a diagonally-knit triangle shawl technique. This makes the shape weird. Weird shapes are pretty good.

Like the other Son of Dog Days projects, this shawl is expandable! If you’ve got plenty of yarn, you have the option of making this either as a little kerchief (as shown in the sample), or continuing on for a full-size shawl. I’ll add a few details after the last pattern repeat to help you customize this to be any size you like.

Materials:
250-300 yds of fingering-weight handspun
1 24-40”circular needle in US5/3.75mm, or size needed for gauge
Tapestry needle
1 ⅞-1” button
Optional: sewing thread and needle, if needed to attach button

Gauge:
Gauge is 9 sts and 20 rows over 2”/5cm in pattern.

Measurements/Sizes:
As shown, the finished project is large-kerchief-sized—about 20“/50cm deep and 23.25“/59cm along the curved topline. It’s 28”/71cm along the slightly curved lower edge.
