Soph is a long, modular open vest with a textured accent waistband and collar, knit using primarily the two-color brioche stitch. This is the ultimate layering piece for your super stylish wardrobe, whether you’re going out on the town, or staying in next to a warm fire with your knitting (because staying in is the new going out, right?). I like to wear mine two different ways: around the house like a robe, and out as a jacket to keep me warm on these chilly winter nights! The modular construction keeps you excited and helps the knitting speed along.

Skill level: Intermediate / Advanced. Basic brioche skills are not required, but are recommended. Techniques used for Main Body: knit, purl, brioche knit (brk), brioche purl (brp), brioche increases and decreases. Other techniques used: simple slip stitch honeycomb pattern, picking up and knitting stitches, three needle bind off.

I have included photo and video tutorials for all techniques used! The brioche lace stitch pattern is both written and charted, for your convenience.

Construction Notes: Soph is knit completely modularly, beginning with the textured slip-stitch honeycomb Waistband. New stitches are picked up along the top and bottom edge of the Waistband to create the Main Body, which is knit using the two-color brioche stitch. A modern brioche stitch pattern is integrated to instill depth to the vest, which is carried all the way up the Back for added interest. Some slight shaping is used on the Fronts for a more fitted look around the bust and shoulders. Soph is finished off with an accent Collar, with stitches picked up along the inside edge, and simple short rows worked in the same slip-stitch honeycomb pattern used for the Waistband. The Collar and Waistband appear seamlessly connected after working. The final touches are simple trims around the Armholes and bottom of garment using the same accent yarn.
