“Where are those happy days, they seem so hard to find? I try to reach for you, but you have closed your mind. Whatever happened to our love? I wish I understood. It used to be so nice, it used to be so good.” S.O.S. Abba

Are you in need of a little knitterly lifeline right now? Or maybe you have a lot of bits of leftover yarn from other projects that you don’t know what to do with?

Whatever your reason, the S.O.S. Cowl is perfect for you.
In this instance S.O.S. stands for ‘Scrappy Old Shale’ (after the cowl’s lace patterning), so grab some cute mini-skeins and some leftover yarn, get them into a pleasing order and let’s cast on!

This is a super versatile pattern with four possible versions: single loop, double loop, half n’ half scrappy or full scrappy.

Sample shown is single loop using 30g of TitiTyy as the main colour and 6 x 5g scraps of 4 ply / fingering weight as the contrast colour (half n’ half scrappy version)

It’s also possible to make the cowl using 2 lots of scrap yarn in any amount of 4ply/fingering-weight yarn from 2.5g upwards! (full scrappy version)

Pattern includes full instructions for organising your yarn, advice about how to best order your yarn, tips for knitting the cowl as an Advent project, and various difficulty options for casting-on and finishing.

Pattern has been professionally tech edited.
