Are you always looking for the hidden wisdom in even the most unfortunate situations? Do you have a keen eye and sharp intuition? Always up when others are sleeping? Secretly a bit silly?

Then perhaps owl is your spirit animal! Whether you seek to connect more closely to the mysterious ways of the owls in your daily life or just think they are the coolest, these mittens are a great way to always have a little bird companion in your pocket. The Fair Isle design features a watchful owl figure, a feather-like thumb and traditional ornamentation, all brought to life by variegated yarn.

These mittens are designed to fit snuggly to a fairly long-fingered female hand (about 18 cm/7 inches around the knuckles, 17 cm/6.5 inches from bottom of the palm to the tip of the middle finger), but you can adjust the size to some degree by altering the gauge or by omitting some rows of the charted pattern.

The standard fingering weight option requires less than 35 g/150 m of the main color and less than 25 g/100 m of the contrasting color.

The yarns used in the sample mitts are:
MC: Coop Knits Socks Yeah, Danburite (30 g)
CC: Rowan Fine Art, Phesant (21 g)

…but feel free to experiment with different yarns for different sizes and effects! This pattern should work especially well with a solid or gradient main color and variegated contrasting color.

The pattern is available in both English and Finnish, and it includes several charts.
