Sound Sweater
The Sound Sweater takes its name from the Puget Sound in Washington State, where I grew up, and from the quiet, steady atmosphere of coastal life. Designed to feel cozy, grounding, and lived-in, this top-down sweater combines an oversized yoke with compound raglan shaping for an easy, balanced silhouette.
An exaggerated collar draws inspiration from vintage knitwear of the 1940s and 70s, while charcoal tweed and red stripes at the hems reference classic sailor sweaters. The result is a piece that feels familiar and timeless, with just enough personality to stand on its own.
This pattern is best suited for confident beginner to intermediate knitters who are comfortable with techniques such as German short rows, working in the round, crochet provisional cast on and shaping with increases and decreases.
