Southern Comfort Set is 2 patterns combined which are names Southern Comfort and Southern Comfy that are both beanies with minor texture patterning on both. These beanies were inspired by my love of southern traditions and the quilts that I grew up around in Eastern KY. The quilts had different styles and textures because of the Amish that lived next to where I grew up but also for the Underground Railroad and also gave a identity of those who couldn’t speak but wanted freedom and got it.

Southern Comfy was inspired by all the stories of freedom I heard about from all walks of life and from the “Underground Railroad” words. I used a basic texture pattern to give this beanie a railroad style pattern to really showcase its backstory. I also did a patchwork of the Southern Comfort beanie for the quilts from the Amish that were works of art themselves.

These beanies are DK weight and are done in a US size 5 (3.75 mm) in a 16” circular & a set of DPNs and the only other item you will need is a darning needle after completing both of these beanies. The gauge for this pattern is 22 sts=4” or 10 cm. Which is perfect for customizing these two beanies. If you want to go up or down a yarn weight you will have to go up a size or two in needle size but down a size or two for your pattern size but only for the southern comfy.

Southern Comfy Beanie has Baby, Toddler, Child, Teen/ Adult Sm, Adult Med & Adult Lg, while the Southern Comfort version had only Adult Sm, Adult Med & Adult Lg for the length only.
