Hello!

Here is an offering from my hearth to yours.

This pattern is now years in the making. It began testing and editing during the early days of the pandemic, (oh we were so innocent back then, haha) and was almost swallowed up by real life things!

Several lovely people donated their time and knitting hours to correct it and test it. My gratitude is not nearly enough, testing is such a big amount of time to give, but here we have it. Thank you so much to them.

I wrote this lovely, slightly nonsensical poem as an introduction, and explanation of the name of this shawl:

Welcome home from your travels among the glittering dark, and the mind bending mysterious.
Outside, swirling reflections. Inside, our calibrations, as we make our ways and weave our ends.
Among our shipmates hurry- both the bright, and the brittle minds. Stark, mending furious, bends.
Through many sames and many games, wooly we make away these wondrous days and brilliant friends.
Stay or sail, they hail. Space weather friends: loyal to the snark, and curious end.

This is pretty much your standard crescent shawl, it is striped and easy to make. I offer it as a free pattern because I am unable to provide pattern support due to my ongoing disability. For now, I can’t offer it as a truly finished pattern with a pdf and all the fancy bits that come with that. Maybe some day that will change, but now I just want to share it freely.

It has held up beautifully in the original yarn called for in the pattern, but any fingering weight yarns are suitable, including your favourite scraps.
