The gently branching lace alongside twisted stitches and ribbing of this hat is reminiscent of the drooping, swaying Spanish Moss that grows all over the trees in the American South. Add as little or as much slouch as you like, a fun furry pompom, or just a perfect fitted beanie, the choices is yours. This version adds a ropey cable between the lace sections, giving the piece a touch of classic knitwear elements.

This hat is only available in 1 size, but because of the nature of the stitch patterns used it will fit a wide variety of head sizes. For larger heads doing more lace repeats will be necessary than for people with smaller heads.
The sample fits my 5 year old’s 19.5 inch head with some slouch, is comfortably loose on my almost 22 inch head, and is a slightly short beanie on my husband’s 23 inch head.
