Designed as a chemo-cap for my husband’s Nana who, in her mid 70s was battling cancer while reading the Twilight Saga.

I wanted a soft, lightweight yarn that would work well with the South Carolina temps yet would be machine washable if needed. Any DK weight yarn, in the fiber of your choice, will work.

The pattern is a very simple 6 stitches by 6 rows repeat.
The hat is adult sized “one size fits most.”
Size can be adjusted according to your needs by the adding or subtracting the number of stitches (by 6).
The hat is knit in the round on either double-pointed needles or a circular needle.

You will need to know how to:
Knit, purl
Do simple knit 2 together decreases
Count stitches and rows
Pick up stitches
Wrap and turn stitches, or “short row” (as in for heels or toes on socks)

You will need:
One standard set of 4 double pointed needles (or one circular needle) in US size 5 (3.75mm)
1 skein of DK weight yarn of approx. 200 yards
-(I used NaturallyCaron.Com’s Spa which is bamboo/acrylic and I used a little over half the 250yd skein.)
1 stitch marker for the beginning of the “row”
G/6 size crochet hook
yarn needle

9-14-10: Decreases should begin as k2together every 7th & 8th sts intead of every 8th & 9th like the pattern states!
