Named for the bird who braves the frigid cold of Wisconsin during the winter, Sparrow was designed for my daughter who, wintering in chilly Madison, was in need of a warm, stylish hat. Sparrow is worked with worsted weight wool on smaller than usual needles for a cozy, stretchy, dense fabric that provides extra warmth on cold winter days.

My samples were knit with Abundant Earth Fiber’s Aviary (in Rose Gray) & Willow Tree Yarn’s Cozy Worsted (in Walnut). Both these non-superwash wool yarns are perfect for Sparrow with their softness, stitch definition & warmth factor. Be sure to check out the matching Sparrow Mitts!
