Speke Square
Speke Square was inspired by the White Bedspread at Speke Hall, a national Trust Property near Liverpool.
I don’t have time to replicate the bedspread accurately – it has been knit in a very fine white cotton yarn and would take me a lifetime!!! But here is my colourful interpretation in an aran weight yarn! The squares can be knit in any weight yarn – just use the needles recommended on the yarn band. The squares can be sewn together to make anything – a bedspread, cushions, jumpers, shawls, bags…anything that can be constructed with squares! The size of the squares, amount of yarn and the number of squares you will need will depend on the yarn used and the finished item you intend to make. This pattern is for the individual component square only.
The sample shown used 50g aran weight yarn and measures 24cm square
