This cleverly constructed, mostly garter stitch scarf works up like magic using cast on / cast off cords that add texture and drape while creating a fringed look at the ends and slots for self-tying wherever you may choose along the length of the scarf. This self-tying feature allows you to create a shorter scarf if you have a limited quantity of yarn.

The original ascot version used one full skein plus just a few yards from a second skein of Wisdom Yarn’s Poems The longer version used less than one skein of Universal Yarn’s Classic Shades Sequins Lite, a slighter lighter weight yarn. Instructions are provided for both long and short versions and for gauges of both 4 and 4.5 stitches / inch.

The difficulty level is somewhere between advanced beginner and intermediate. While this is not a lace pattern, there are a few yarn overs and decreases and a great deal of casting on and off. Other than that, it is knit stitch and a simple repeat.
