Spencer is a basic, seamless sweater with a cabled, color-block yoke that really shows off beautiful yarns. The drop shoulder design and shawl collar makes for an easy, comfortable fit. It’s also a super-comfy, relaxed sweater for women and looks great with leggings!

The front yoke is worked bottom-up first in a strong, lattice cable stitch.

Stitches are picked up at the shoulders for the back yoke and the rest of the sweater is worked top-down. Shoulders are shaped and short rows raise the back neck for best fit. The body and sleeves are worked in the round in stockinette stitch with chunky ribbing at the cuffs, hem and the shawl collar.

Sleeve stitches are picked up at armholes and worked in the round. Stitches for the shawl collar are picked up at the neckline and worked back and forth in ribbing with short rows for shaping. Bottom edge of collar is tacked down.

INSPIRATION: My son had been giving me a bad time for never having designed him a sweater. Then he ran an errand for me to our LYS and, afterwards, told me that they were now well aware of my neglect. The next time I went in, I was given a “talking-to” while they were laughing at how he set me up to get himself a sweater. Being a design student, he had to choose the yarn and approve the design. So this is the result and to make sure I’ve fulfilled ALL of my obligations, I’m even naming it after him!

The instructions are both charted and written and the pattern has been professionally tech edited and tested.
