A mesmerizing series of faux cables in a rich ginger tweed reminds me of gingerbread dough fresh out of the mixer. You won’t need a cable needle for these twists—they’re a series of strategic increases and decreases that mimic cables, but without the extra work. Twists and garter stitch team up for an interesting composition of texture and pattern that will keep you engaged from start to finish. The charming bobble bind-off is a nod to frosting buttons on a gingerbread person cookie.

Knit back and forth (flat) as an asymmetrical piece, you’ll work an increase every right side row to create the shaping. The pattern consists of a repeat of three ginger twists worked throughout, while at the same time building a section of garter stitch that grows with the increases.
