This cowl looks intricate but it is simple to knit! Featuring two-color honeycomb brioche (worked in the round), this easily-memorized 4-round repeat creates a lovely intricate honeycomb texture on one side of the cowl that reverses to a bird’s eye design on the back!

When selecting colors, it works best to select colors that have a VERY high contrast between them. The lighter & brighter color usually works best as the background color (the dominate color on the reverse side of the cowl) and the darker color as the foreground color…although with every rule, there are exceptions and I opted in the pattern model to use the lighter ‘Oatmeal’ solid as the foreground color and the darker ‘Tapestry’ gradient as the background. Don’t be afraid to experiment! After all, if it’s not singing to your heartstrings, you can always take it back out and reverse the colors.

This pattern model used (2) skeins (255 yards each) of Fiber Optic Yarns unified gradient in the color, ‘Tapestry’, held double and 1 skein of Heaven Sport (280 yards) in the color, ‘Oatmeal’,
