I started with Mrs. George (Anne Jane) Cupples’ 1871 Spider Net pattern from her stocking knitters pamphlet. There were problems with her pattern: row 5 was completely wrong and different sized yarn overs made the pattern uneven. I fixed row 5 and added stitches to keep all the yarn overs the same size. I also increased the spider net sections from 2 repeats to 3 repeats.

Skills needed: cast on, knit, purl, yarn over, k2tog, S2KP and bind off.

Gauge is not important in this pattern. Any block-able yarn/thread will work. Make a swatch to check gauge and appearance.
