This intricate crocheted bag takes the design elements of my award winning Spiderlace Maxi Dress and combines them in new ways to create a sturdy and fabulous fashion accessory! This design involves some sewing as well as crochet.

SKILL LEVEL
This challenging project suits an adventurous-intermediate level or advanced crocheter.

Techniques include working with very small stitches and hook size, lacework, edging across row ends, crochet seams, some hand-sewing and beading.

Please note - Yardage and Gauge described in above fields is provided for Maxi version only (Catona details below).

SIZES
2 options:
The Small bag is made using Maxi Sugar Rush and two hooks: (1.75mm and 2mm)

The Large bag is made using Catona and two hooks: (2.25mm and 2.5mm)

YARN
Maxi: 2 x 50g balls in chosen colour
Catona: 5 x 50g balls in chosen colour
Almost all yarn is used in the project. If you want to practice the lace, consider buying 1 extra ball.

OTHER MATERIALS
Cotton/Linen fabric to line the bag:
MAXI version: 2 pieces approx. 26cm x 26cm for a simple bag lining, and a third piece cut to 18 x 18cm to sew to the back of the Front Lace Panel.
Catona version: 2 pieces approx. 36cm x 36cm for a simple bag lining, and a third piece cut to 26 x 26cm to sew to the back of the Front Lace Panel.
(Note – this is fabric allowance – they will be cut slightly smaller after taking measurements from your bag.)

Sewing thread to match chosen fabric and MAXI Sugar Rush/Catona colours
Sewing machine is ideal to sew the bag lining and edge the fabric pieces (or overlocker)
Glass seed beads (Maxi: 130 x 2mm diameter beads; Catona: 120 x 4mm diameter beads)
Tapestry needle
