In Italy, there are a lot less forests than in Finland. The most of the landscape seems to be fields. As the seasons change earlier here, the cereals and hay are cut and harvested in the beginning of summer. In May – June the fields start to turn yellow. The spikes move slowly under the burning sun.

Spiga is a two-color shawl, worked from the top corner. First, the lace section is established, and the rest of the shawl is worked in a simple textured pattern. The main feature of the lace is the spike-like pattern. The top edge is shaped with decreases. Intarsia-technique uses two colors per row.
