This is an adaptation of antique Sumatran textile motifs applied to a Norwegian-style stranded knit cap.
Because the main motifs of the “spike strips” are wide, the yarn gauge and hat size must be carefully calculated to have repeats come out evenly. My intent is to continue updating this pattern file as new combinations of graphs, yarns, and sizes are figured out.

Initial PDF includes graphs and instructions to make a woman’s medium-sized hat using sport weight yarn (6stitches/in). The model is knit with scraps. About 75 grams of background color (50 grams on the outside and 25 grams on the inside ear-band) and 50 grams of contrast color were used.
