Named for the gentle oceanic crests breaking against the shore, the Spilling Waves Shawl contains ripples of simple texture that are just as calming to crochet as they are to look at. The asymmetrical crescent-like shape mirrors the organic, flowing nature of the ocean. Short rows create this shape and a picture tutorial within the pattern helps you work the untraditional transitions between the wedges of texture.

YARN
Yarn used is Dyeing Wishes Yarn Co. Shocking Sock (75/25 SW merino/nylon, 463 yards per 100 grams). I used approximately 180 grams of color 1 and 50 grams of color 2. You can purchase a kit from DWYC for this shawl to get a 40% off code for this pattern, or you can purchase this pattern to get a 10% off code for the yarn to make this shawl.

GAUGE
3 dc in first st, * sk 2 sts, 3 dc in next st * repeat from * to * across until last 3 sts, sk 2 sts, dc in last st
Your gauge swatch should measure greater than 4” x 4” so that you can properly measure the interior stitches.
Make sure to start with a stitch multiple of 3 + 1 (for example, you can create a foundation of 28 chains, 31 chains, 34 chains, etc.) plus 2 turning chains. For the first row of your swatch, sk 2 sts and begin working in the third ch. For subsequent rows, ch 2 before working.

This pattern is easily modified to be bigger or smaller by working a fewer or greater number of rows.
