Spiral Buddha bean
This Buddha bean will be the perfect addition to any decor, or use him as a stress ball when you need some help finding inner peace.
This pattern lends itself very well to different sized yarns with minimal or no changes. Try different yarns and hooks to find your perfect Buddha(s). Additionally, he looks great with ears or without, and with or without the urna.
The spiral construction can give this piece a tilt or lean, more so with some yarns than others. I have included tips to give him a stretch, a twist, a pull to straighten that lean, but know it will be there and I find it is a part of his charm.
I am not a Buddhist, but I am very drawn to many of the ideas and symbols found in Buddhism and all the connections we can create within our own lives. While the depth of my understanding of these symbols is basic, I wanted to work symbolism into this pattern.
The spiral can represent our journey of life, our evolution, growth and change, and our connection to nature or the divine.
His urna, or bindi, symbolizes the third eye, or the sixth chakra. This seat of wisdom, strength, energy and concentration can be represented different ways. I choose to place a heart on my Buddha, to remind myself to always lead with love. He will look great with a small flower, spiral, eye, dot, or no urna at all.
Buddha’s long lobed ears represent wisdom and compassion. They may serve as a reminder of when he was weighed down with adornments of wealth. On this pattern, they give him that extra pop of personality!
Have fun with this pattern and enjoy your Buddha buddies!
