A simple crochet poppy with a base pattern and two variations. 
This pattern works in straight rows rather than in a circle producing a simple, modern spiral design.

The pattern is written in US terminology with a conversion provided to UK terminology on the first page. It is very simple (and fun), only 3 stitches are used: SC, DC and TR with a slip stitch to finish.

YOU WILL NEED

• Crochet hook: 3.5mm / US E-4
• Yarn (black and red): 8 ply / US DK light worsted - acrylic or wool gives a nice firm poppy
• Scissors and yarn needle
