Spiraling Cables Triangle
Choose a main color and contrast color to knit this cabled DK weight shawl. The triangular shape begins at the small point and increases sideways toward the wide border. Slip stitches form the crisp cables and stripes and you only have to work with one color at a time. The spiraling cables flow into a diamond trellis pattern and a picot hem finishes the edge of the shawl. Choose a solid main color like West Wool Tandem combined with a self-striping yarn like Spincycle Yarns Dream State or Schoppel Wolle Stärke 6. These marled self-striping yarns form the most fascinating background stripes for an addicting knitting project.
Finished Measurements: 60″ / 152cm wingspan length, 28″ / 71cm along center point. Measurements taken after blocking.
Yarn: DK or worsted weight
Spincycle Yarns Dream State is a worsted weight, but it combines beautifully with the DK weight West Wool Tandem.
Yardage: MC - 500yds / 457m
CC1 - 150yds / 137m
CC2 - 150yds / 137m

You can use three different contrast colors like the Spincycle shawl samples or you can use the same CC for CC1, CC2, & CC3 for a more simplified color combo.

Needles: US 7 / 4.5mm in 47″ / 120cm length or size needed to obtain gauge
Notions: Tapestry needle, cable needle
Gauge: 18 sts & 36 rows = 4″ / 10cm in 2 rows garter stitch + 2 rows stockinette stitch after blocking.
Gauge Swatch
CO 30 sts.
RS: Using MC, k all sts.
WS: P all sts
RS: Using CC, k all sts.
WS: K all sts.
Repeat last 4 rows until the swatch reaches your desired length. Bind off the swatch and block it before taking measurements. Aim for a fabric that is close to the recommended gauge, not too tight and not too loose. You can also just begin knitting the pattern and check your gauge once you achieve some shawl fabric. Try to achieve a similar stitch gauge to ensure you don’t run out of yarn.
ERRATA: Section 2, Row 10 should read: Row 10 (WS): K9 …….. sl3wyif.
