Spirality features an intriguingly textured spiral rib stitch which is worked without the need for a cable needle. The cowl can be worn loosely in a single layer, fastened with a shawl pin or wrapped twice round your neck to keep you warm and snug in cold weather.

Relaxed size after blocking is approximately 20cm x 110cm (8in x 44in). The spiral rib pattern is fairly stretchy and the cowl should be blocked lightly to open up the stitch pattern; the given dimensions are only a guide.

I have used a provisional cast-on at the beginning in order to make both edges identical. The pattern contains a link to the crochet chain method which is my favourite way to cast on provisional stitches. However, if you’re not comfortable using this method, please feel free to substitute any other provisional cast-on method of your choice.

Spirality has been test knitted and tech edited.
