I decided to create this pattern because I found a quilting pattern with a stripe variation that I absolutely fell in love with, but I can’t quilt. So I wanted to recreate the stripes in a knitting pattern.

This is a pretty simple blanket to avoid typing out and endless list of rows, I’m going to give you the basic knitting pattern and then the stripe pattern.

NOTE (8/26/16): Because this blanket is in stockinette stitch it is going to curl up. By trial I have found that the edges I have listed below are NOT wide enough the counteract the curl of the stockinette. However, I like the narrow border and for me, the curl is not a problem, as I plan to felt my blanket when it is done.
However, here are some alternative options to address the curling for everyone else:

1. Widden the border: Instead of doing a knit stitch on the first and last four rows and the first and last four stitches of the odd rows, you can increase that by increments of four.
2. Create a different border in ribbed, seed or moss stitch (though I still recommend also making the border wider).
3. You can also line it in fabric, if you are so inclined.
4. For natural yarn: felt the project. For acrylic yarn: “kill” the yarn by heating it to get rid of it’s elasticity. Both of these options will change the texture and size of the finished blanket.
