Joyful Colorwork Socks: 25 New Knitting Patterns for Fun & Whimsical Footwear

Spooktacular
I could not resist creating some not so spooky and easy-to-knit skull socks. Using some white yarn with tiny speckles of vibrant colors, I was also inspired by the Mexican celebration Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). This is a joyful celebration to remember passed loved ones. Celebrated from midnight on November 1 until November 2, it is common to offer festive-colored sugar skulls to represent a departed loved one. The skulls are whimsical, bright and colorful!
These socks are knit from the top down in just two colors. Starting with a twisted ribbed cuff, this pattern has a fun and easy-to-knit (maybe not-sospooky) skull motif that is repeated
throughout the leg and foot. There is a short row heel, so the colorwork pattern can be knit without disruption along the foot. Stitches are decreased for the toe and then grafted together.
