This is definitely a more difficult pattern than my normal patterns. Due, mostly, to the amount of color changing you will need to do. Any other special notes are made in the pattern itself.

Special Notes
All rounds through out these patterns will end in “sl st to beginning st, ch 1” unless indicated otherwise.

There is a lot of color changing through out this pattern.
I attach body parts as I go, weaving in all the tails too. While I definitely recommend you do this too, it isn’t required.

Sections of pattern written out in brackets are to be repeated x amount of times, where x will equate to the number indicated. For example sc, inc x6 means to repeat the pattern of sc, inc around the entire piece to the end of that round.

Cat’s ears, arms, paws, and tails are all made the same size no matter which cat body you pick.

The Stout Cat will work out a little bit shorter and more rounded in the body. The same goes for their toys and hats. This is so you can easily mix and match as you see fit.

There is sewing in this pattern to attach ears, arms, paws, tail, hat, and cat’s toy. In some cases, some of the toys may need assembly as well. It’s small amounts of sewing (amount of space to be sewn wise), but it happens frequently.

In cases like the hats and toys, you don’t have to sew these on, it just makes it easier to not misplace them.

You will come across sc 4 in mc. If this is challenging for you, try starting a row or so down where the hat would be at least 1 sc larger in the circle. (So start at round 2 instead of 1).

Sections you come across that say “(about) 6 sc” mean that if you come out one high or low here, that’s fine too. The difference could be as simple as where you and I placed our first sc in this round.

You will run into terms like:
mc = magic circle
sl st = slip stitch
ch = chain
sc = single crochet
dec = decrease
inc = increase
hdc = half double crochet
hdc inc = an increase but done in half double crochet instead of single crochet
dc = double crochet
FLO = front loop only
BLO = back loop only
cc = color change
F/O = fasten off
Picot = ch 2 and sl st in the 2nd ch from the hook (so the first ch)
Crab Stitch = single crochet, but done clockwise (backwards from what we’re used to) around the piece instead of the normal counter clockwise. It’s a pretty easy stitch, but can take a little
getting used to.

Materials
4.0 mm crochet hook
18 mm safety eyes (large cat, optional)
Yarn, at least 4-5 colors. 3 colors for the cat (white, black, orange), and at least 1 color for the spider, depending on if you wish to add markings to your spider.

I used Red Heart yarn for all my kitties and their toys. You don’t have to use this specific brand, but that is what the pattern is sized for.
