Pattern Directions:

This pattern is designed to use your favorite sports team colors, college or professional. If you don’t want to use the called for yarn, then use up one skein of your choice and determine how many ridges result. Add next color and proceed doing the same number of ridges for each stripe.

Starting with Color A, CO 120 stitches, knit in garter stitch (slipping the first stitch of each row purlwise) until skein runs out, 24 garter ridges/48 rows (about 4.75”). Add Color B yarn and garter stitch until skein runs out, 24 garter ridges. Alternate Color A one more time. Next, add Color C until skein runs out, 24 ridges. Add Color A and alternate with Color B and finish with Color A.

Univ. of Michigan colorway variations: With Knit Picks Swish, alternate 4 stripes in dusk, two in honey and one in white. For another variation, use 4 stripes in dusk and 3 in honey. Each stripe uses one skein of the Swish yarn so have fun with your team colors.

Finished measurements: 24” x 33” (perfect for a car seat/stroller since children no longer sleep with blankets)

House divided variation: My daughter’s friend requested a “house divided blanket” (Michigan/Ohio State). Oy vey! It comes out a bit shorter by 4” (24”x29”) since it did not have the middle stripe. I did the following sequence:

  • dusk
  • honey
  • dusk
  • white
  • gray
  • red
