Join us for this exciting and different Top or Shawl using 1 skein of Merino Cloud in color A, and 1 skein of Merino Cloud in color B (shown in Merino Cloud ombre purple color 708 and Merino Cloud speckled multi color 621). Knitalong starts on March 30 and continues through June 30. That is the deadline for joining and posting the first part, but there is no deadline for completing your work.

Artyarns yarn is required for participation! You need 1 skein of Merino Cloud in color A, and 1 skein of Merino Cloud in color B (for contrast). If you prefer to use Ensemble Light, Rhapsody Light, Silk Dream, Beaded Silk and Sequins, or Regal Silk, all these are good substitutes for Merino Cloud but make sure you have the 400 yards minimum that are required for each color.
The pattern itself is completely free.
If you are making the Tunic version, there are 2 sizes: you can make the 34”-42” size with 1 skein of each color (800 yards total), but that will mean if you are a 42” there will be no ease. The second size is 44”-52” but that requires 2 skeins of each color (1600 yards total). You can fine-tune it by adding extra repeats of 16 sts to your work, quite easily, and I can help you with that.

Here’s how to join:
You must be A MEMBER & LOGGED INTO RAVELRY in order to see CAST ON in the upper right
Hit “Cast On” to create your project page.
Add a photo of the Artyarns skeins you will be using. This must be a photo you yourself have taken, and not one from the Internet. Initially you will receive the Swatch Pattern, which is available now (see photos here for swatch). Make sure you identify the correct needle size after you have knitted and blocked the swatch.

On or about March 30, you will receive Part 1 of the pattern from our moderator Kanknitking. When you complete Part 1, post a photo on your project page. You should receive Part 2 of the pattern shortly thereafter, and so on.

Where can you purchase this yarn? Don’t wait to get your yarn, because it’s more fun to start at the same time as everyone else. Here’s a list of participating stores who are offering all the ombre colors (701-712) for sale:

As always, these knitalongs can get chatty and that’s the fun of participation. So I’ve created a discussion group where you can discuss colors, show swatches, talk about the design, and any issues or questions here: https://www.ravelry.com/discuss/artyarns-knitalongs-and-designs/4011364
