Spring Bun Socks
I designed these socks around Chinese New Year. They have these delicate little cables and lace details, and the left and right sock are mirrored.
My family really loves eating huajuan — it’s a Chinese steamed twisted bun. During the holiday, my mom steamed all the huajuan I had bought, and when I saw them, I was like, wait… this stitch pattern looks just like huajuan. So I named the socks Spring Bun.
For the yarn, I used Cascade sock yarn in this soft mint green, with a tiny bit of brown. For the other sock, I used a hand-dyed yarn, and somehow it looked like a pepper-and-salt meat bun version of huajuan, which I thought was really funny and cute.
For the cuff, I made it folded over, because I realized I actually like wearing taller socks — they feel warmer and cozier. But you can totally change the cuff height or the ribbing to whatever you like.
