I designed the Spring Capelet because I wanted to give back to the lovely lady who first introduced me to crochet more than 43 years ago. My mother, who will be 82 years young in early May, still crochets regularly, making gifts for others but never for herself. This is my way of honoring her and showing her how much I appreciate the time we spent together learning this craft. It certainly has changed my life as a result.

The pattern is divided into two segments and can easily be completed within a couple of weeks.

• Part 1 contains the upper yoke of the design.

• Part 2 contains the lower body of the capelet.
