SPRING cardigan is designed based on the stitch pattern no# 86 from Knitting Pattern Book 250 Stitch by Hitomi Shida. I’m always a big big fan of Hitomi Shida sensei and her knitting stitch bible books. Honestly, I was obsessed with this motif from the first time I saw it. This motif reminds me of flowers and butterflies, evoking a strong feeling of Spring and it makes me happy whenever I saw it. Such a powerful and meaningful stitch!

At first I thought of knitting this cardigan in bright colors and creating an airy lace fabric. Then I changed my mind to knit it in a stone color that reflects the Winter atmosphere, using a classic wool that gives it a thick and sturdy fabric. It’s fun to wear a hand-knitted sweater that gives you a warm and cozy feeling in Winter AND it reminds you that after a long cold Winter will come Spring, right? That is to always keep the faith, then flowers will bloom on the top of the rock, and our lives will get better and better.

Lace stitching patterns all over the cardigan, there are no plain stockinette stitches on this cardigan. To be honest, it took me a lot of effort to design this pattern.

The SPRING cardigan is constructed from the top down and is worked flat and in the round. You can try on your unfinished garment whenever you need to decide on the desired length or when you want to to enjoy the results of your hard work.
