This is a free pattern while I make some cosmetic revisions and update the pattern layout.

From the pattern description: This vine lace pattern is perfect for a lightweight summer scarf knit in a silk/cotton blend. The pattern ripples horizontally at the color changes when used with a self-striping yarn like Sekku -- and only requires one skein for a scarf.

The lace pattern is both written and charted. Both have been checked and re-checked (by me and other knitters) and are accurate. If you are knitting this pattern, you’ll see that while the 9-stitch lace motif is the same on both pattern rows, it is shifted by one stitch on every other row, which makes it a challenge to use a stitch marker between motifs. I was able to ‘read’ my knitting after a while and found that I only needed to make sure which row I was on. A helpful fellow Raveler described it this way:

I ended up doing several things to read the lace easier. I used a double stitch marker to indicate whether I was doing row 1 or 3. I also broke it down so that I knew that on Row 1, I did the psso with the previous decreased stitches and the yo with the 2nd yo of the previous knitted row. On Row 3 the psso were done on the plain knit stitches and the k2tog were done with the previous knitted stitches as well as the 1st yo.

24 July 2010 - Revised the pattern by adding clarification regarding the optional cast on and enhanced the lace chart by shading beginning and ending stitches.
