The cape is worked flat, from the top down. The main body is worked in two repeated sections: the blossom section, which is a 4-row repeat, and the treble section, where the increases are made to shape the cape. The top and bottom borders are worked in the blossom pattern, incorporating the contrast colors.

Being a top-down design, you can easily modify both the length and the width as you go. The cape is quite loose fitting; if you prefer something with less positive ease, you could reduce the number increases in the middle of the treble sections
You can attach buttons to fasten the cape, or you might prefer to use a small shawl pin.
