The Spring garden square invokes the feeling of Spring with tulips bursting from the ground and vibrant colours emerging after the cold of winter. I’ve provided the option of turning this into a 30 cm cushion cover at the end of the pattern, by using two of these squares.

It can be used as a square amongst many in an afghan blanket, or as the centre of a blanket if you want to keep adding rounds until you reach the desired size.

Both myself and the tester worked in Drops Paris cotton aran with a 5mm hook, but I’ve also achieved a similar size using Stylecraft Special DK (acrylic) with a 4mm hook.

This is ideal for an advanced beginner who is already familiar with the basic stitches.
