Celebrate spring with this wide, blooming garden of stitches that begins and ends with a majestic stranded flower with garlands of feather & fan and drop stitches dancing away in between. Though the ends are dense with stitchery, the wrap soon opens up to invite in plenty of air and light, maybe even the occasional butterfly.

As with all my designs, this one is not meant to be a salute and knit pattern. It invites you to play, rearrange the elements, explore. Make yours shorter or narrower. Mix up the stitches at will. Play with the colors. How about a red-centered pure white flower against a deep blue background? Maybe amethyst and turquoise can be your color scheme or some desert flower inspiration in rusts and coppers?
The wrap features seed stitch ends which are knotted together just below the start of the intarsia bloom. These knots invite tying, furling over one shoulder and all kinds of inventive closures.

This design is not worked by gauge so any needle, any yarn, will work, however plan on going up needle sizes to maximize effect. My tie ends used the smallest needles at US 6/ 4mm but as soon as I reached the intarsia portion, I changed to US 8/5 mm and, following the intarsia flower, leaped up to US 13/ 9 mm in the middle parts, sowing wild and free for all those drop and feather and fans.
