This is a pattern for a knit wrap that features two very different lace stitches. The center section resembles spring flowers, and the side stitch resembles spring leaves, hence the name. It is made using heavy fingering weight yarn and a size #5 (U.S.) needle, making it a faster knit than many of the “wedding ring” shawls. The center is enhanced by a fairly easy smocking stitch. The pattern contains instructions for several methods of smocking. The pattern also contains instructions for an optional crocheted edging.

Skill Level: Intermediate (assuming a good working knowledge of knitting, purling, yo’s and lace knitting.)

This pattern was expertly tested by Jennifer Stover who can be contacted at, phdaisy1@gmail.com. It was made using Fiesta’s Baby Boom yarn in colorway, Caterpillar.
