The Spring Sprite Hat pattern is a 2-in-1 pattern, giving you the option of making either a hat with a spiral stalk or without! Featuring an adorable leaf-shaped brim with a notch, add optional leaf veins and detachable flower to customize your hat. Make in browns or oranges for an autumnal look!

This pattern includes size adjustments covering the size range: head circumference 21-24inches.

This pattern is made to suit your own measurements, meaning that you should try on your work as you go to check the fit. A traditional square gauge is not given because you will be working in rounds with yarn held double, but sizing checkpoints are given in the initial stages of the pattern.

NEEDED MATERIALS:

MAIN COLOUR (medium green): 200g Aran or heavier worsted weight yarn
Equivalent to approx. 420m/460yds
I used Hayfield Bonus Aran with Wool. I find this is a great thick aran weight yarn, and the 20% wool content adds good stiffness and texture, perfect for this type of project.

ACCENT COLOUR (light green): 20g Aran or heavier worsted weight yarn
Equivalent to approx. 42m/46yds

For the Optional Flower: Small/scrap amounts (less than 5g per colour) of white, light pink, medium pink and yellow DK yarn

Required hooks - 5.5mm and 5mm hooks for the hat
3.5mm hook for the flower

Stitch markers
Optional: 6in/15cm of 1.5mm (16 gauge) crafters/florist wire for the spiral stalk
Optional: one broach blank or large safety pin for the flower
