The Spruce Berries Shawl pattern is perfect for the lace knitting beginner to hone their skills, or the more advanced lace knitter to have something simple and meditative to work on.

It is a triangle shawl with a straightforward 4 row repeat that produces an elegant, airy lace texture. Yardage estimates are for a mid-size or full-size shawl that will be finished with a straight edge bind-off and optional tassels for each corner of the shawl.

Sizes

  • Mid-Size (Full-Size)
  • 30” (38”) spine length – from cast-on point to center tip of shawl.

Sample Yarn
November Woods Fiber Co. Hickory Base (in Spruce Berries colorway, which inspired the name of this shawl!)

Yardage
Approximately 450 (660) yards DK weight yarn for shawls

Needles & Notions
→ US Size 7 (4.5mm) circular needle, 36” cord length (or longer cord if you want some extra room for stitches)
→ Stitch markers (4)
→ Tapestry needle for sewing in ends

Gauge
Note: Gauge can be approximate. I would start knitting the pattern and see if you like your fabric density and drape, and make any needle size adjustments based on that. Also note that blocking will open up your eyelets and gauge significantly.

15 st = 4 in in Eyelet Lace Motif after blocking (explained in pattern)
