Much like her sister, the Forestry Cowl, the Spruce Shawl was designed with trees in mind. Imagine you’re standing at the precipice of a long valley and you see the vast wilderness before you. You feel the life of the earth as she sings through the wind in the spruce trees. Individually, each tree is an ecosystem of it’s own, housing animals and insects, offering strength and protection.

This shawl is tiered into 2 lace sections that are bordered by garter stitches. It makes for a light, easy and, durable shawl that’s easy to modify.

Try knitting with DK or Worsted yarn to make a large and cozy winter shawl and meditate on the nature of the evergreen spruce trees. I hope that this pattern gives you as much calm and comfort as it has given me.
