Square Lemon Peel Dishcloth by Sarah Shiny Kelly

Square Lemon Peel Dishcloth

This pattern is available as a free Ravelry download

I originally wrote and shared this pattern on my blog at the beginning of last year, which can be read here:
https://blog.shinycrochet.com/2020/01/making-long-lasting...

I have also created a YouTube tutorial for it. You can check it out here: https://youtu.be/bc_T9fGpiMM

As part of that, I transcribed the pattern to a PDF so it is easier for printing.

You can download that right here on Ravelry: one version has photos, the printer friendly version has had the photos removed and some tweaks to formatting to make it use less paper. I would recommend referencing the one with photos along side if you’re learning.

This pattern uses 8 ply cotton yarn. I would recommend sticking to cotton or other natural fibres as they can withstand much higher temperatures and will last much longer than acrylics. However you can switch out the ply to your preference if you want a more delicate or chunkier cloth at the end.

I used 4.5mm hook with mine when using my mill end (unlabelled) yarn, but when I used thinner yarn such as Flinders 8 Ply I found I needed to go down one or two sizes to not leave holes. So be sure to test for yourself.

This pattern uses the following stitches, in US Terminology. I include a table in the document with translation to UK:

  • Chain
  • Slip Stitch
  • Single Crochet
  • Double Crochet
  • Asterisks for repeating sections
  • Brackets for stitches to be worked in the same space.
