Square Pillow Crochet Pattern

This fun crochet pattern is for making a pretty square motif.
The motif can be used for many projects such as: blankets, bags, rugs and more.

A project could be made of as many motifs as you like. You can crochet a blanket by joining small squares or a pillow cover from eight squares, as shown here, the possibilities are endless !!

In the pattern you will learn how to crochet a basic shape of the motif, then you can pick a specific square or rectangle shape to crochet and plan your desired project.

The pattern works well with 2 colours, but you can make it much more colourful if you like, one side of the pillow is made in six rainbow colours

I used the motif to create a pretty square pillow cover, lovely for home decor.

The pillow measures: 17.72 X 17.72 inches (45 X 45 cm).

This is a really fun crochet pattern, using standard crochet stitches and the Tunisian top horizontal bar stitch, which is described in detail.

This stitch is great to crochet; you will learn it in this pattern (if you don’t know it already) and could use it in future projects.

The pattern includes 3 PDF files:

1. Detailed step by step photo tutorial for the pillow.
2. File without pictures for printing the pattern.
3. Photo tutorial explaining how to join new yarn without a slipknot.

All are written in US English terms.

It is a good idea to familiarize yourself with the pattern by following the photo tutorial first.
The printable version is best used when you already know the pattern.

Skill level: Intermediate.
A basic knowledge of crochet techniques and stitches required.

Materials:
1. Yarn: any yarn can be used for this motif, depending on your project.
For the pillow shown here I used: Paintbox Yarns Simply DK, 100 gr/276 m/302 yard; any other brand of DK yarn can be used.
The amount of yarn required for a pillow is detailed in the pattern.
2. Crochet hook: the crochet hook should be chosen according to your project.
For the pillow cover I used: size 4mm (Metric) G/6 (US) crochet hook. In the pillow, maximum loops on hook are 32, a long Tunisian crochet hook is recommended.

1. Tapestry needle.
2. Scissors.
3. Stitch markers (recommended).
4. Square pillow, size: 17.72 X 17.72 inches (45 X 45 cm).
5. Buttons (optional).
