Squidge Hat

It’s just soooo squidgy and cosy to wear!

This hat is simple, quick, and very satisfying. Although personally I tend to prefer smaller needles, I do love a little project with virtually immediate gratification. And this is definitely that kind of knit.

Not to mention that this hat is toasty and squidgy warm. With a little extra something for style.

Materials

1 skein super bulky yarn, approximately 69 yards/63 metres

I used Malabrigo Rasta, 100% Merino Wool, colour Sabiduria (approx. 90 yards/82 metres per 150 grams)

6.5 mm or US 10.5 needles, in your preferred style for knitting in the round: double pointed needles, 16 inch (40 cm) circular needle changing to double pointed needles, two circular needles of any length, or one long circular needle for magic loop.

1 stitch marker

Gauge

Measured after blocking, by washing and laying swatch to dry naturally, without stretching.

12 sts = 4 inches (10 cm) in k2, p2 ribbing
14.5 rounds = 4 inches (10 cm) in k2, p2 ribbing

Finished Measurements

Hat measured blocked (as above for gauge swatch), laid flat, and unstretched.
Circumference of approximately 18 inches (46 cm).
Depth 9 inches (23 cm).

(Hat is adjustable in depth. Note: if you choose to make it longer, you will require more yardage than is called for above.)

Will comfortably fit head of 21 – 24 inches (53 – 61 cm) in circumference.
