I was looking to design a fun detail to add to self-striping socks. I chose to use this fun cable pattern that works down the outside of each leg. In the tutorials list, I have a video on how to cable without a cable needle, which works well for this sock. This pattern would look equally as good on a solid or hand-dyed yarn as well. There are instructions for both the right sock and the left sock. The chart is mirrored for both socks. Charts and written instructions for charts found on pages 5 & 6.

This pattern is for a fingering weight sock. It incorporates a 2x1 rib for the cuff. It also uses a heel flap with a square turn, which disrupts the self-striping yarn much less than a traditional heel turn. It is worked using magic loop; N1 will be front of foot/instep/leg, and N2 will be back of foot/leg and heel.
