This fair isle infinity scarf is inspired by oak trees and the squirrels that like to play in them! The fair isle detail makes up roughly one third of the infinity scarf loop, and the rest is knit plain in the background colour to show off the fair isle section.

The scarf is knit in the round with 4.00mm (US 6) 40cm (16”) circular needles from the bottom up from an invisible cast on. Once the desired length is reached the final row is grafted onto the cast on edge using Kitchener Stitch in order to create a seamless loop for the infinity scarf.

The sample is knit with DK yarn, Alpaca Superfine (75 alpaca, 25% wool) with two colours: 4 balls of Parchment and 1 ball of Gold. One ball is 50 grams / 112 meters. A heavier or lighter weight yarn could be used alternatively to make for a heavier or lighter cowl. It is recommended to select two yarns with enough contrast so that the fair isle stands out.

Hope you enjoy the pattern! Happy knitting!
