The ssSnek pattern is best suited for advanced crocheters or those looking to elevate their skills.

This pattern provides detailed, step-by-step instructions so you can create:

  • one complete, textured, sculpted, 3D, no-sew snake -crocheted from tail to snout including the crocheted eyes and a cleverly designed moveable mouth that can open and close
  • nine crocheted eggs that ingeniously form a posable spine. These same eggs also offer a bonus playful feature: they can be launched from the snake’s open mouth for interactive fun.

This extensive 58-page pdf pattern, includes:

  • crochet snake pattern written using standard US crochet terms
  • over 50 colored supporting photos
  • 22 video tutorial links in QR code form for easy access (scan, click, or tap)

Aside from the usual tools (scissors, yarn needle, fiberfill), you will be needing lots of stitch markers and scrap yarns for filling. It is recommended to use stiffer yarns to maintain the snake’s sculpted shape and poseability.

Details of the snake I made:
ssSnek A

  • 1.00mm hook
  • one color of 3-ply mercerized cotton yarn in lace weight (Monaco Brand - similar to Aunt Lydia’s) and consumed around 300-350 meters
  • total length from tail to snout is 22in or 56cm

ssSnek B (micro crochet)

  • 0.50mm hook
  • one color of 3-ply spun polyester sewing thread, TKT30 weight (Dandy Rugged Brand) and consumed around 150-200 meters
  • total length from tail to snout is 14in or 36cm

And yes, this pattern has been thoroughly tested, and at the end of the instructions, you’ll find a showcase of my testers’ amazing creations for inspiration.
