St Andrew's Mitts and Cowl
This pattern includes mitts and a cowl, knitted in DK yarn, designed to reflect my connections to St Andrews, Fife, Scotland. I studied there and named my second son Andrew in memory of that time.
The beautiful blue and white AnnField Farm mohair yarn, produced in Fife, was my inspiration for this pattern and seemed a perfect way to create something with a link to St Andrews. I have also knitted it up in Northern Yarn Mamó, and both yarns produce beautiful mitts and a cowl to match.
The AnnField Mohair is purchased in 100g skeins. One skein in each colour will produce both the mitts and cowl.
Northern Yarn Mamó is purchased in 50g balls. You will need 1 ball in each colour for the mitts and 1 ball in each colour for the cowl.
The stranded colour work motif shown has been adapted to reflect the St Andrew’s cross and the Norwegian style of knitting mitts was something that I had been wanting to try for some time.
